MJ Nebreda grew up in Caracas, London, Santo Domingo, and many places in between. Leaving Venezuela for London was particularly difficult; Latin dance music was one way MJ maintained a sense of self wherever she went. She began making beats and singing over them during lockdown in Miami, an uncanny mash of classic Latin dance rhythms, house music, hip-hop, experimental indie, and UK garage.

"Quedate" is the first single from MJ's debut EP, out this spring on Godmode (Channel Tres, Yaeji, JPEGMAFIA). It's a giddy house record that seamlessly blends Scandinavian-style space disco, highlife, and traditional Latin rhythms. For the video, MJ traveled with her brother to Peru and performed amongst the heights of the Andes mountains.

The record follows "Perreo Contra La Depresión", which was released last year on Godmode with solid DJ support in the underground neoperreo scene as well as playlist support from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Tidal, KEXP, KCRW, Sirius XM, and WFMU.
